A beautiful card depicts a Madonna and Child bathed in candlelight, surrounded by holly leaves. It is a still still from one of our short films 'Madonna of The Mending Basket' based on the poem by C.M Strong. In the film it is Christmas and a mother learns to let go of her son as she mends his shirt for a journey. Her mind drifts to the past and the small mends she has made from ripped jeans and Nativity costumes to the repairs in family life. The past is full of colour while the present is seen in monochrome except for the red of holly berries and rosary beads, symbols of the blood that will always bind them. The card comes with a white envelope and inside it reads Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, in a red script font. This lovely card reminds us of the true story of Christmas: of love and sacrifice. The card measure 7 x 4.5 inches and has a satin finish.
